Embrace a Moment of Stillness | Welcome in a Practice of Pause and Awe!

Overall, are you content with the life you are leading? Or, is something deep inside of you yearning for something more? Where does that desire for something more come from? You have a wonderful family, a successful career, loyal friends and you might have acquired many possessions of which you have desired. But, internally you may still feel unfulfilled and a desire for something more still creeps in your mind. What is that? Is it a need for a timeout? Could this be a yearning for a pause? Could it be you need a higher connection to the God of your understanding? Perhaps, it is truly a need to slow down some, so you can once again discover the simple wonders in life that surround you? With the busyness of today's world, it truly can be easy for your sense of wonder about the natural world around, you to get buried under daily concerns and responsibilities.

"Wonder Rather than Doubt is the Root of All Knowledge"

Quote: Abraham J. Heschel

As we grow into adults one of the first things we tend to lose is our childlike curiosity about the world around us due to new responsibilities that come with adulthood. While this is not inherently negative, a person's spirit can become burdened or weighed down by the relentless demands that shape their life; thus experiencing a diminished present moment awareness that was once very vividly experienced before adulthood.

If an individual can mindfully practice incorporating more moments of "pause", into their life and become more present within themselves, and within their surroundings, you will experience enhanced serenity that comes from truly living in the moment. When we mindfully stop and just be a few hours a day or week and just observe what is happening around you in the natural world, we allow our conscious mind and physical body to move into a state of calm.

One of my favorite quotes is "Learn to Stop and Smell the Roses", again, in today's world with rushing from here to there, the sentiment is needed now more than ever. It truly does signify to take a moment and slow down, or better yet, to disconnect from your regular activities periodically.

Slot time in your day for a pause. Allow the joyful sound of children's laughter to resonate in joy within your spirit. Be in awe of how the warmth of sun rays feel on your face, look up into the sky to notice the movement and shape of the clouds, feel the dance of wind across your skin, smell the subtle aromas in the air, take a long walk in nature, watch sunlight sparkle dance on top of water or through the trees.

When you cultivate a mindset of wonder and awe for the simple things in life it truly can have a profound impact on your mood. Know that being in a state of Wonder is not passivity, it is an active engagement with the natural world that leads to discovery, understanding and growth. Never lose your sense of wonder.

Give yourself the gift of practicing a pause frequently, even if its only to gaze out of a window and let your thoughts come and go. Overtime you will master the ability to just be in the pause and loving it! When we embrace a state of tranquility and remain grounded in the present we pave the way for a mental reset and increased clarity.

Practicing a pause and embracing wonder can help us find more moments to appreciate our lives with gratitude. Sometimes we need assistance cultivating new routines and may need a guide from someone who is a bit further along on the journey of incorporating Present Moment Awareness into their life. If you desire a guide contact Coach Sheila to set up a complimentary clarity call.

Implementing a new routine in your life won't result in immediate changes, but with time and dedication to your personal well-being, you can establish a manageable routine that allows you to practice a pause, be present, and be in awe of the beauty of life. Whether it's dedicating two hours, one hour, or just 20 minutes each day begin to carve out time for yourself to mindfully slow down. Doing this can and will lead to enhanced moments of wonder and gratitude.

"Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life"

Quote: Eckhart Tolle

So take a deep breath, look around daily and begin to observe the world around you without the filter of a phone or computer screen. Allow a childlike wonder to flush over your thoughts and take time to slow down and savor the moments of your day and start enjoying the beauty surrounding you.
